Join Keep Scotland Beautiful  and Arran Eco Savvy as we explore how community film nights can get people in your community
thinking about climate change.

We also invite you to watch a challenging film – Cooked: Survival by Zip Code – and hear directly from its director who
will be joining us live from the US.

Programme for the evening

19:00 – Introduction to film nights on Zoom

Hear
from Arran Eco Savvy about how they use films to get people learning,
thinking and acting on climate change through their Savvy Film Club.

19:15 – Film – Cooked: Survival by Zip code

Cooked:
Survival by Zip Code tells the story of the tragic 1995 Chicago
heatwave, the most traumatic in U.S. history, in which 739 citizens died
over the course of just a single week, most of them poor, elderly, and
African American.

20:15 – Discussion on Zoom

We’re
thrilled to be joined live by the film’s producer Judith Helfand who
will join us, on Zoom, for a discussion of the film’s themes – and the
role of film in community climate action. We’ll use small breakout rooms
to ensure that everyone can have their say.

20:45 Thank you and close.

Links to watch the film and for the discussion session on Zoom will be sent out a few days before the event.

Tickets to the Evening Film and Discussion are free, and open to representatives of organisations with an
interest in taking community-led action on climate change. The event has been organised by Keep Scotland Beautiful as part of our management of the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund.
