This Green Tease ‘Ideation Game’ workshop is created jointly by public art platform Climate Art and game designer Matteo Menapace and supported by Creative Carbon Scotland. A continuation of the project started by Matteo while game designer in residence at the V&A, it will provide a playful format to discuss urgent challenges and generate new ideas of artistic engagement applicable to COP26 and beyond.
With COP26 postponed to November 2021, a host of new challenges have arisen about how we organise, but we also have much more time to plan. Set up as a role-playing game, this event will enable participants to step out of their daily roles and imagine solutions to shared problems. This playful workshop aims to enhance creativity and disrupt familiar ways of thinking. After all, play, as once noted by cultural historian Johan Huizinga, is ‘older than culture.’
How it works
Players co-create a set of challenge cards, then take turns playing the cards to come up with ideas and vote for potential solutions to those challenges. A simple set of rules and pre-agreed success criteria will ensure everyone has a fair chance to put forward ideas and to keep conversations on point. There will also be time during the event to get up to speed on the current situation with COP26 and how to get involved. We’ll make the ideas developed during the game available afterwards to feed into continued planning.
You can watch a video here to get a run through how the game works and we’ll cover this at the start of the event too.
Sign up for a free space on Eventbrite and you will receive a link to join a Zoom call on the day of the workshop. The event is best experienced from a laptop or desktop computer and requires an internet connection. If you have any questions or problems, please get in touch with [email protected].
