Event Details
Presented by Prof. Richard DeMarco CBE, this is a one day exhibition and symposium relating to COP26, and considers how the DeMarco Gallery’s “Edinburgh Arts” contribution to the 1974 Edinburgh International Festival’s programme hosted the first global conference on the threat of climate change. This involved politicians, environmentalists and “Edinburgh Arts” faculty and students. Among the speakers were two world-renowned artists/environmentalists – Joseph Beuys and Buckminster Fuller.
Featuring a panel of distinguished guests and screenings of rare footage of Beuys on Rannoch Moor and the groundbreaking Oil Conference of 1974, a film of broadcaster Andrew Marr in discussion with
Richard Demarco and a presentation on the watercolours of 18th century “father of ornithology” George Edwards.
