Event Details

Ahead of COP26, join Bristol University Press authors for a discussion on strategies to tackle climate change and ways to innovate sustainably.

Rebecca Willis, author of ‘Too Hot to Handle?,’ will speak about the role of democracy in COP26, and how to develop a social mandate for climate action, both within and between countries.

Richard Joy, author of ‘Unsustainable’, will show how our global response to the climate crisis requires more than rapid adoption of sustainable technologies such as renewable energy and electric vehicles – it requires transformational change: socially, economically and politically.

Peter Hetherington, author of ‘Land Renewed’ will look at how we need a government strategy for managing and enhancing our land, which needs to work in harmony with an emerging Environment Bill.

Stevienna de Saille. co-author of ‘Responsibility Beyond Growth’, will examine how our current political and economic systems are built on the idea of an infinite growth in a world with finite resources and will suggest ‘responsible stagnation’ as a more sustainable way of looking at innovation.

The event will be chaired by Fiona Howie, Chief Executive of the Town and Country Planning Association.

Attendees will have the chance to ask questions of the panel and will be given a code for 50% off their books.
