Get involved in Climate Fringe Week and

climate activism with a crafternoon of craftivism looking at alternative ways
to recycle and repurpose plastic bags destined for landfill.

During  this workshop you’ll learn how to turn
plastic bags into plastic yarn (PLARN). Then inspired by the work and
techniques of The Recycling Women of the Gambia the PLARN will be used for some
eco-crochet and a small case to store bank or other cards.

All materials can be provided but please feel free to bring along your
own plastic bags (at least 2), a 3.0mm or 4.0mm crochet hook, a feature button,
big scissors and a big eye needle.

The workshop is ideal for anyone with some basic crochet skills
but it’s also an opportunity for absolute beginners to have a go.

Taking this workshop is Sharon Goodwin from Sew Silly Lily in
collaboration with Plastic Free Helensburgh. Sharon is a graduate of Glasgow
School of Art with a lifelong passion for textiles, craft and design.
