An informal conversation with experienced community garden and woodland organisers, as well as forestry experts.

About this Event

Join this event for an afternoon of informal talks and an opportunity to ask your questions to experienced forestry experts, designers, and organisers of gree community spaces. If you are interested in the management of your local forest or local community green-space, or perhaps want to set up a green-space within your community, this is the event for you!

This event will cover:

– An introduction to Forestry and Land Scotland: how they interact with communities and how they manage their woodlands for public access and use.

– An introduction to the Woodland Creation Design Guide: the main things to consider when planning a community woodland, the steps and how to apply.

– Planning the elements of any community greenspace: how they work together and what the management implications are for each type of space.

– The Earth and Worms Project.

– Fundraising advice from Cove Community Woodlands.

Climate Week North East is a week packed full of fun, inspiring and interesting events, designed to raise awareness of climate change but, more importantly, show what we can all do to make a difference and reduce our carbon footprint in a fun way.
