Daniel Willis, Global Justice Now and Nadia Whittome, MP on defending aid, making it more just, debt cancellation, and climate finance.

About this Event

Daniel Willis, finance and climate justice campaigner at Global Justice Now (GJN), will talk about how we can support justice for the global south in the times of Covid-19. He will discuss GJN’s campaign to not just defend the aid budget, against the government’s merger of DfID and planned cuts to the 0.7% target, but also to make it more effective and just. Daniel will also highlight how we can support GJN’s work campaigning for debt cancellation, an end to UK financing of fossil fuels, and for more climate finance for the global south to be announced at the COP26 climate talks in Glasgow this November.

Nadia Whittome, Labour MP for Nottingham East, will speak about aid and debt cancellation from a Labour perspective.

There will then be a Q&A session with Daniel and Nadia answering questions from attendees.
