Event Details

The sustainable use and management of freshwater resources is critical to climate change mitigation and adaptation, as wetlands are immense biodiversity hotspots and carbon sinks, and currently lost faster than any other ecosystem. An integrated and multi- sectoral approach that successfully engages public and private actors is necessary to ensure effective and lasting conservation of freshwater ecosystems. WWF, the Convention on Wetlands and Danone have pioneered public and private conservation efforts to conserve freshwater ecosystems for decades, but they have experienced a lack of local awareness and capabilities for implementing conservation projects. The partners understand that knowledge is most valuable when shared and are therefore launching a new e-learning course titled: Sustainable Use and Management of Freshwater Ecosystems, and Working with the Private Sector to support Conservation Activities. This eLearning course seeks to equip communities around the world with tools and information to successfully implement climate adaptation and mitigation solutions as well as facilitate public and private cooperation. It will be free and publicly available.
