In this one hour webinar we will focus on how to engage your local councillors effectively on divestment. We’re excited to be partnering with the Divest Local Government Coalition (through Friends of the Earth [EWNI] and Platform London) for this webinar.
Hope for the Future are specialists in training citizens to have effective conversations with their political representatives using our relationship-based influencing approach. This event is targeted and tailored for divestment activists.
This session is part of our Authority to Act programme. This webinar will not cover technical and specific divestment information. Instead it will be about how to effectively talk to your councillors about divestment and understanding the behaviours of your councillor.
We designed this training programme to be accessible for people who aren’t seasoned divestment activists too and can support you over the course of a year, assisting you in meeting with your councillors, members of the pension fund committee and demonstrating wider public support for your campaign! - Hope for the Future’s relationship based approach to lobbying
- Finding common ground
- Defining your smart agenda
- Conversation techniques for good influencing
We aim to talk for 50 minutes, leaving 10 minutes for questions.
This will be a two part training, with the second part covering how to engage with your newly elected council on divestment. The date for part two is 11 May 2021 7pm – 8pm (eventbrite details not yet live!)
