In the lead up to the Scottish Elections the OurSeas coalition is hosting Marine Hustings to hear parties’ approaches

The www.OurSeas.scot coalition comprises over 100 organisations campaigning for better protection of the marine environment.
Marine Charity, Open Seas, has organised this Hustings event on behalf of the coalition to hear from candidates for the Scottish Parliamentary election 2021 about the actions they propose to take to reverse the decline of our marine environment, and the need for its sustainable use.
The event will be chaired by Environmental Journalist, Rob Edwards.
It will be held online, 1900 – 2030 BST.
Claudia Beamish MSP – Scottish Labour Party
Claudia was the Scottish Labour Party’s Spokesperson for Climate Change, Environment and Land Reform between 2011 and 2021 she is currently Scottish Labour’s COP26 spokesperson and has championed Blue Carbon in Parliament for many years.
Mark Ruskell MSP – Scottish Green Party
Mark is lead candidate for the Mid Scotland and Fife region. He was elected to represent the region first in 2003−2007, then in 2016. In the current parliament he is the Greens’ spokesperson on Climate, Energy, Environment, Food and Farming.

You will be asked to submit a question when you register, the topic of the event is Scottish Marine Conservation and Sustainable Fisheries and we welcome any questions you have about these issues. Questions will be selected by the chair and organising committee prior to the event and those selected will be invited to ask them of the candidates.
