Event Details

From January 29-31, 2021, the People’s Music Network for Songs of Freedom and Struggle is planning a weekend-long community sharing and learning experience. Register here to get the Zoom links!
This global online activist music convergence includes an opening concert, multiple educational workshops, a Round Robin, Songs of the Spirit, and built-in social and song sharing time. This is the 41st Annual Winter event. They draw upon a rich tradition of in-person gatherings, primarily in the Northeast U.S., which undergird what our Network is becoming: a diverse and international, growing community of artists and activists using music for peace and justice.
By meeting online, some of what makes in-person Gatherings inspiring gets lost. Let’s face it: There’s no way to replace being enveloped by a wall of sound waves emanating, not from headphones, but from hundreds of human voices using melody and rhyme to express a common commitment to fundamental social change. On the other hand, they’re doing things that they’ve never done before like organizing a PMN Virtual Choir and a PMN Driveway Choir (for folks in the Boston Area). They’re also organizing multiple educational sessions about the ways in which activist choirs are making the best out of a very difficult situation, using different technologies to sing together while physically apart.
