POWER SHIFT 2020. Where next for People & Planet's Climate Campaigns?

Welcome to Power Shift 2020

We are really excited to be running Power Shift online this year.

At People & Planet, our campaigns are decided by our student network at Power Shift, and they run on a 6 years cycle. Every three years, students come together for a review of the campaign, where they assess its effectiveness and make any changes they feel are needed. Fossil Free, our campaign to get UK universities to stop investing in fossil fuel companies, was launched six years ago (yes, we can’t believe it either!), and at its third year review, Divest Barclays was introduced. With an incredible half of all UK universities divested, it’s now time to decide on the next steps for our climate campaigns, considering a wide range of options.

This past year has seen several consultations with our student network, a steering group working on campaign proposals, and soon a student vote on which proposal to bring to Power Shift. During the session at Power Shift, students will come together to decide the next climate justice campaign People & Plane runs. Proposals will be sent out beforehand, so you can have a look at them first. But don’t worry if you don’t have time! Members of the steering group will present the proposals at the beginning of the session.

People & Planet is formed by its student members, and your input is essential in the running of the organisation. Be sure to join us for this session and shape the future of our climate campaigns!
