Red, Black, and Green New Deal

This Movement for Ideas session is co-sponsored by the Movement for Black Lives in the U.S and will deepen connections between the struggles for Black liberation and global climate justice. How can we leverage this political moment of international uprisings in defence of Black life to unify calls for reparations for colonization, enslavement & exploitation, ecological & climate debts?

The session will lift up the Movement for Black Lives’ “Red, Black, and Green New Deal’ as a revolutionary platform, one that centres Black communities & Black visions for climate justice. Using the visionary framework offered in the platform to think through what a ‘Global Green New Deal’ could look like that answers the need for climate reparations and what forms of transnational Black solidarity are needed to build towards it.
