The History of Plastic with VOICE Ireland

This summer, 10000 Students aim to bring awareness to the impact and importance of our purchasing power and our consumer habits. We have the power to challenge this cycle and create a sustainable pathway for the future.

In collaboration with USI + VOICE Ireland, the #ConsciousConsumption campaign will reevaluate the way we act as consumers. It’ll explore the history of our overconsumption and relationship with plastic, how we interact with global supply chains, the innovations changing the way we purchase, and the effects of media and advertising on consumers.

This session, The History of Plastic, will explore our relationship with plastic and its subsequent overconsumption. Join the event to look at solutions for moving forward and focus on the necessary lifestyle changes and socio-political steps that must be taken to create a sustainable future.

You’ll also hear from Lynsdey O’Connell, the Communications and Campaign Manager for VOICE Ireland. She’ll discuss their current campaign, #PlasticFreeJuly, and why action against plastics is urgent for Ireland and the world.
