Sustaining All Life & United to End Racism at Climate Week

Voices of Latin America

Tuesday, September 22
17:00 – 18:30 BST

In Latin America we face many challenges. For example, industries that extract minerals and fossil fuels receive large land concessions. Also, industries that consume natural resources get permits that allow them to pursue a violent, voracious, and non-sustainable business model. The results are environmental degradation, deteriorating health for the population, and thousands of displaced people. When activists and communities peacefully protest, they face jail, threats, and assassinations.

In this forum, people from Latin America will speak from their personal experiences about
(1) the impact of climate change on their countries and communities and
(2) their organizing to end the climate emergency.
Join us to listen to and learn from frontline people!

Participants will also have a chance to share with each other in paired listening exchanges. Sharing experiences is a powerful tool that can strengthen our activism.
