Join War on Want and the Climate Justice Coalition to hear more about the preparation for COP28, the global demands for a Just Transition and the actions taking place here in the UK during the Global Day of Action.
2023 will be the hottest year on record. In the last 12 months, rising global temperatures brought extreme heat waves across southern Europe, Asia and in the Americas.
The world is at tipping point, climate catastrophe is already devastating the lives and livelihoods of people across the world and primarily those in the Global South, with the UN calling it the era of ‘global boiling’. Despite this unprecedented and unstable period of history, policy-making is locked into a failed economic model that prioritises profit over the wellbeing of people and planet.
As we approach the COP28 summit in the UAE, we are seeing an increasing risk that profit will once again be prioritised. This year’s summit is already shrouded in controversy, with the COP President, Sultan Al Jaber, also serving as the CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company – presenting a genuine conflict of interest and near certainty that the summit will again be dominated and influenced by the fossil fuel industry.
Join us on 21 November to hear more about the COP process and how we can continue to fight for climate justice and a Just Transition which puts the wellbeing of people and planet over the profits of a few.
You’ll hear from:
– Asad Rehman (War on Want / Climate Justice Coalition)
– Anabella Rosemberg (CAN International)
– Nathan Thanki (Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty)
– Tyrone Scott (War on Want)
As world leaders prepare to gather in the UAE for COP28, let’s prepare to win the fight for climate justice.
