Event Details

Using art, writing and discussion we will explore the climate emergency during 6 workshops held at Velocity Café on Tuesdays from 6.00 – 8.30pm. The workshops can be attended as a block or as individual sessions. To secure your place, please book the session(s) you wish to attend.

RESILIENCE & ECO ANXIETY: How can we combat our eco anxiety and grow our resilience as we go further into the climate emergency? How can we stay focussed and prevent burn out or bury our heads in the sand?

These workshops will aim to raise awareness of the climate emergency, to explore what climate change is, and what the solutions are. To look at gender inequality and biodiversity loss, learn how to manage eco-anxiety, increase our resilience and discover what we can do that will make a difference.

A creative approach to exploring these difficult issues allows us to physically and emotionally be fully present for the duration of the workshop. To not be thinking of the past or the future but of the here and now. By being creative we can open our minds to other possibilities and ways of thinking, and importantly allow us to play and have fun. No experience is necessary as it is the creative process and journey that is more important.

All materials will be provided. We will use a variety of mark making techniques, reflective writing exercises and discussion to explore the themes and discover more about ourselves and how we feel about the climate emergency. Additional learning and work at home will be encouraged but is optional.

A hot drink of your choice will be provided between 6 – 6.30pm.

NB: One requirement of the funding is that we collect feedback from participants about the event. You will be asked to fill out a feedback form at the end of the session.

Photography: We will also take photographs during the session for sharing on social media and reporting purposes. If you are not comfortable having your photograph taken, please let us know.

Attendance & cancellation policy: As places are funded, please only book a ticket if you know you are able to attend. If your plans change, you must cancel your ticket and let us know with at least 48 hours notice of the event start time so that others can attend.
