Event Details

Join botanist Greg Kenicer for a walking tour to discover what grows along the shoreline between Anstruther and Pittenweem. This walk is organised by Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and the Restoration Forth project, restoring seagrass and native oyster habitats in the region.

Throughout the walk we’ll look at some of the coastal vegetation and seaweeds, uncovering their ecology, botany and folklore to build a picture of the diversity and importance of the Forth’s amazing habitats.

Greg Kenicer is a botanist with particular interests in the uses and lore of plants as well as the evolution and diversity of the pea family, but to be honest – anything botanical fascinates him.

This walk will follow the Fife Coastal Path which includes some rocky ground, uneven surfaces, and steps. Please get in touch if you are unsure if this walk will be accessible to you. The total distance of this walk is 2 miles, but please bear in mind any additional walking distance between public transport or back to your vehicle. This walk is not circular and will end in Pittenweem, buses are available back to Anstruther or onwards to St Andrews or Leven – please plan you route ahead.

If you require a BSL interpreter, please get in touch and we will arrange this dependant on interpreter availability. For any questions or requests about the accessibility of this event please contact [email protected]

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance here
