Rural Scotland desperately needs more affordable houses, as well as more community and enterprise hubs, if depopulation is to be reversed. Local authorities are best placed to stimulate and galvanise this through sustainable placemaking.
We have assembled a top panel of expert speakers, including Craig White of Agile Homes, Matthew Benson of Rettie’s and Jonathan Hines of Architype.
Come and join the Conversation, which is being held online at 4pm to 6pm on Monday, 9th October. The core theme is what can be done to stimulate local government into more proactive engagement with communities, housing associations, housing co-operatives and self-builders.
We also have two planners on the panel – Robbie Calvert of Scottish Borders Council and Bea Nichol of South Lanarkshire Council – both of whom are passionate about creating more affordable homes and workplaces. We will look at public interest-led developments and investigate alternative funding models, including how to more strategically harness the revenue from wind farms
