Event Details

The workshop will look at why it’s important to phase out fossil fuels and how it can be done in a way that empowers oil and gas workers and local communities.

It will start with a general overview of the damage caused by burning fossil fuels, and then look at some of the campaigns that have been successful in taking on the fossil fuel industry. We will discuss the importance of a just transition and how workers can be supported to move away from the oil and gas industry.

We will also look at some of the tactics that can be used to campaign for a fossil free future, for example fossil finance and legal challenges as well as public pressure. We will also spend time discussing what kind of tactics are appropriate and feasible to do in Shetland and how public opposition to fields like Rosebank can be built. This is an interactive workshop and your input and ideas are a vital part of the process.

Everyone is welcome, whether you’ve been involved in campaigns like these before or this is your first time!
