Event Details

There are many factors that determine whether someone is likely get involved in climate action: for example, they need to have the time and means to support their involvement; they need to feel that their involvement is going to do some good; they need to feel a degree of connection to the person or organisation asking them to get involved.

These are all really important considerations and we could devise approaches to try and address these potential barriers. However, what is given less attention are the factors that motivate someone’s concern for the climate in the first place – in other words, the values they hold to be important.

What will you gain from attending this session?

In this session, Ruth Taylor from the Common Cause Foundation will share some research that explores how we can communicate with other people in such a way as to tap into the values most likely to lead to concern for the environment. At the end of the session, you’ll leave with some new ideas on how to engage more people in your work.

Who is this session for?

This session would be useful to anyone who runs climate projects or who is already engaging in climate action. Preference for spaces will be given to attendees from Fife and Scotland.
