To coincide with the UCI World Cycling Champs, OUTLIER is hosting the Scottish premiere of Cracked Earth, a short film by Shift Cycling Culture that focuses on the lives of cyclists worldwide, living in areas where climate change is no longer a future threat, but a daily reality.
The special, free screening will be be followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A with brilliant guest speakers talking all things cycling and climate action. Plus pizza and beers available.
Doors from 6pm, Cracked Earth screening at 6.30pm. Panel Discussion at 7pm.
ABOUT THE FILM:
Cracked Earth is a film about the impact of climate change on the places we love to ride.
As cyclists we all share a love for the bike. But we also share a global, existential challenge: climate change and biodiversity loss are having a devastating impact on the outdoor spaces we use as our playground.
Shift Cycling Culture aims to accelerate collective climate action in the global cycling industry and community. For this purpose, Shift is about to launch a film about the impact of climate change on the places we love to ride.
As cyclists we all share a love for the bike. But we also share a global, existential challenge: climate change and biodiversity loss are having a devastating impact on the outdoor spaces we use as our playground. From the saddles of our bikes, we witness the climate crisis unfold. Extreme weather conditions, changing landscapes, diminishing biodiversity: climate change is no longer a future threat, it has become a reality. And it’s happening in our own backyards.
The film, produced and directed by founder and Director of Shift, Lian van Leeuwen, is created as a tool to bring cyclists together around the issue of climate change, and to accelerate climate action in the global cycling industry and community.
With the film, Shift is therefore releasing a call to action page, encouraging the cycling industry and community to reduce their own impact.
