Background

On Friday 24 March 2023, people across the UK will come together in town and city centres to demand our local institutions finally cut off the money pipeline to fossil fuel polluters and free up funds to invest in clean, cheap energy.

Groups will be coming together locally between now and March 2023 to co-design unique public mobilisations that tell the story of our broken energy system and present the alternatives for an equitable and liveable future for everyone.

Getting your campaign message to the thousands of people in your community watching local TV or listening to a local radio station means you can reach far more people than you ever could in person. But, once you’re on the air, do you know what you’re going to say?

In this training, you’ll learn some techniques for getting your campaign message across effectively and have the opportunity to prepare through practice interviews, with the help and advice of UK Divest staff and other day of action organisers from across the UK.

We’ll be covering the basics around messaging and storytelling, to interview preparation, and non-verbal communication. Don’t worry if you’ve never done media interviews before!

If you’re not already signed up to organise a local action in your area on Friday 24th March, all the details to get involved can be found here: https://www.divest.org.uk/doa-organiser-2023/

Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any access needs or requests, or any questions about the training.
