Who is this course for?

This course is ideal for volunteer leaders at The Green Team as well as conservation enthusiasts. Attendees will benefit from The Green Team’s 25+ years of experience of working outside with young people to connect with nature, themselves and others.

What will the course cover?

This is a one day module and will cover:

  • Woodland management skills (path work, cutting back, tree felling, thinning, brashing, coppicing)
  • Role of the ranger – Q&A session with a ranger, discussion around site management and ongoing challenges faced in green spaces
  • Dynamic risk management outdoors (tool safety, site risk management)
  • Biodiversity monitoring skills (species ID, surveying, monitoring etc.)

What to bring

Please come dressed for the outdoors and our unpredictable weather. Bring a packed lunch and cold drink. We will provide teas/coffees/water.

How to get there

We will be taking our minibus from Tynecastle High School (leaving at 9.15am) to the training and returning there afterwards. There are limited places on the bus – if you would like one, please email [email protected].
