Event Details

Join us for this Green Tease event created in collaboration between Creative Carbon Scotland and Ocean Generation aims to help us understand the threats facing our oceans and explore how the performing arts in Scotland can help take action on these.

Ocean Generation works to empower an inclusive global movement to tackle Ocean threats through Science and Storytelling. The event is aimed at younger generations but everyone is welcome.

About the deep current programme

This event is a part of Ocean Generation’s Deep Currents workshops, which sits within their Wavemaker programme, where they aim to empower people to make a difference to our Ocean using their own skills and values. This particular workshop will focus on how people can take Ocean Action within the performing arts – whether that be as someone who attends performing arts events, or someone who works in that sector. This workshop is also open to those interested in Ocean Threats more generally.

In this workshop we will:

Swim through the 5 Ocean Threats, their impact and our role as Wavemakers.

Gain insight into real world examples of innovative Ocean solutions, some of which are targeted at events, performances and festivals and be inspired to create our own solutions.

Deep dive into Pollution as one of the 5 Ocean Threats and introduce our framework that allows you to focus your effort and energy on combatting plastic pollution in an Ocean Intelligent way, applying this to how we conduct ourselves as festival-goers and how the festivals themselves can rethink their approach to single use plastic.

Unpack how you can turn a great performance-based idea into Ocean Action, or how to make positive change within your own performing arts organisation.

About Ocean Generation

Ocean Generation is an ocean-focused NGO and UK Charity which is on a mission to empower an inclusive global movement to tackle Ocean threats through science and storytelling. We break down the biggest human threats our Ocean faces, like plastic pollution and climate change; shift the perceptions and behaviours that create them; and are empowering the world to live more sustainably. The best way to do that? Education and empowerment – anchored by science and driven by storytelling. This – our Ocean Intelligence approach – is endorsed by UNESCO and integrated into our youth engagement programmes, empowering an inclusive approach to sustainability.

About the Green Tease

Green Tease is Creative Carbon Scotland’s ongoing informal events programme connecting cultural practices and environmental sustainability across Scotland. Since 2013 Green Tease has provided a platform for those interested in teasing out the links between the arts, climate change and environmental sustainability through the exchange of ideas, knowledge and practices. Green Tease events are equally open to people from creative and environmental backgrounds and free to attend.

Do you need support to attend?

Everyone is welcome at our events.

We know that it’s sometimes difficult for everyone to attend because of unintended barriers. We want to make any necessary adjustments to our events so that no one is excluded. These adjustments will, most likely, differ from event to event and person to person, so we need your help to get it right. Please inform us of your accessibility requirements for this event during the Eventbrite registration process or get in touch by email [email protected] if you would like to provide more information or ask any questions.

You’ll understand that some adjustments may take more time to arrange than others, so we appreciate you giving us as much notice as possible about what you need so that we can support you to get the most out of this event.
