The workshop aims to bring together major stakeholders in the Edinburgh area including senior decision-makers and politicians. It is focused specifically at the city of Edinburgh and its wider city region. The aim is to bring key stakeholders together to discuss the need for a city-region-wide, coordinated plan and the structure needed to make this happen.
Should we try to set up a Statutory Enhanced Partnership as some are suggesting? Like many other local authorities CEC have set up an ESCo some years ago called ‘Energy for Edinburgh’ – but is this the right structure and how could it be developed? Should the supply of heat be a public or private service? Local communities need to be included in this debate – how do we ensure they have a voice?
