‘Inspiring families Green Awareness Initiative’ will seek to raise awareness of low-carbon and sustainable lifestyles for 20 families from the ethnic minority communities
‘Inspiring families Green Awareness Initiative’ will seek to raise awareness of low-carbon and sustainable lifestyles for 20 families from the ethnic minority communities in Paisley, Renfrewshire over a 120-minute each interactive face-to-face event for 2 days. Apart from fostering community cohesion and stimulating resilience, the interacting cultures and experiences of the families representing these ethnic communities will help to develop new ideas, and skills in furthering our goals of reducing the carbon footprint of individuals and families. We are keen on having a legacy and sustainability is embedded in all aspects of our event. Exploring the concept of “family” therefore is crucial, as this will improve the climate literacy and climate change combating skills of these families.
The event will incorporate storytelling for change and employ the services of three (3) volunteers, and a facilitator. Participants will engage in the conversation and be inspired and empowered to take lessons learned to their respective homes/communities for sustainable actions. It will also be about their interests and needs in relation to climate change awareness, adopting a healthy lifestyle, and the proposed sustainable actions.
