Event Details

In this practical introduction to fundraising course we welcome fundraising expert Pam Judd. Pam is an experienced fundraiser and frequently delivers fundraising courses for Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations (SCVO).

Pam will deliver an introduction to fundraising with a focus on applying for community based active travel projects in Scotland – that is projects that will in some way encourage people to travel more actively in their daily lives whether that be walking, wheeling, cycling or some other mode.

Projects can be directly running activities such as walking groups, but could also be less directly related, like providing a local map showing accessible routes or bringing a public space that feels neglected and unsafe back into community use, or installing signage or benches so people can see what is nearby, and have places to stop for a rest along the way.

As part of the course you will be asked to complete an application, so please have a project in mind when you sign up. More details below.

This course is open to anyone working or volunteering for a community based organisations in Scotland, who are planning or delivering projects encouraging active travel.

Please note there are only 15 places available on this course, so please only sign up if you will definitely be able to attend.

Course Details

Sessions:

Day 1 – Thursday 20th April, 10am to 1pm

Homework – Identify and complete an application

Day 2 – Thursday 27th April 10am to 1pm

Aims of the Course:

At the end of the 2 sessions participants will have an increased knowledge and understanding of:

The Scottish Fundraising Landscape, and how this is relevant to making approaches to funders/donors (with a focus on active travel funders)
How to craft an effective case for support
Using project profiling to target the most appropriate source of support
How to adapt the style and content of an approach to suit a range of funders
How acknowledging and thanking donors can foster future giving
How to research potential funders and make targeted approaches

Each participant will be provided with:

A range of handouts, templates and follow up materials after each session as well as a copy of the slides.
