Event Details
LSC BIO (Be Involved Outdoors) Group are a group of volunteers who have been working to improve the biodiversity and beauty of Albert Park on the southside of Glasgow since an ecological survey was carried out in 2020. The park is a 10 acre multi-sport club, but is also a designated Site of Importance to Nature Conservation. It is boundaried on two sides by the White Cart river and extensively tree-lined – a hidden green oasis. We have planted lots of pollinator friendly plants, created a habitat hedge (dead hedge), introduced native hedging, have introduced composting, greened up the hard spaces at the club and we are transforming a 130 metre grassy bank into a wildflower bank, and more besides – come and see what we have achieved. On the day there will be a map to guide you around the park, volunteers on hand to answer questions. In the Clubhouse there will be a slideshow of photos from the past two years of hard work, a wildflower seed giveaway, and some free refreshments. There will also be a display of COP 26 placards – a nostalgic reminder…
