The Meanwhile in Leith Festival will celebrate harvest, local artists, community organisations and the residents of Leith. We want to create a day for all of Leith to share the joy of growing and dedicate this festival to reconnecting nature, culture and
The festival will consist of a series of small performances, talks, gatherings, stalls of local artwork and other goods, a seed swap, as well as workshops around wellbeing, creating and growing and will be suitable for all ages.
Our Venue, The Meanwhile Site is used as shared community space between Leith Community Growers, Out of the Blue, Bookbinding with Cass, Rowanbank Environmental Arts & Education and Leith DIY, all of whom will be given the opportunity to participate in creating a programme and activities for the festival.
Scotland the Bread will be giving advice on bread making, nourishment, and food sovereignty whilst we harvest our wheat, organic potatoes and a variety of fruit and vegetables. We will also harvest our flax which we are growing as part of a 1m2flaxscotland project and discuss slow fashion and clothing as an agricultural product.
There will be an after party in partnership with Settlement Project at Sett Studios (see images below for more information).
Join us to celebrate the vibrancy of Leith and connect with a wonderful community of like-minded people!
