Event Details

Join us online to hear from Joan Lawrie of Thurso Community Development Trust on the North Highlands & Islands Climate Hub, funded by the Scottish Government with the purpose of supporting community led climate action throughout the region. The Hub is one of the first of a network of community led Climate Action Hubs which are forming across Scotland to support communities make a just transition to Net Zero, create greater resilience in communities and support a climate ready Scotland.

Work commenced as a Climate Hub in September 2021 with Thurso Community Development Trust as initial operators before creating the North Highlands & Islands Climate Hub CIC in April 2022 which welcomes community groups throughout the region to become members and shape the Hub’s future direction.

It aims to support community led climate action across the North Highlands & Northern Isles in all the stages it takes to design, develop and deliver a project. The team can support existing local groups or help communities to form new groups – connecting communities through new and existing networks and signposting to further support as needed. Even if you are not developing a specific climate action project they can help you with climate ready policies for you locally and how to embed climate action in your work.
