Event Details

Join us for an afternoon walk around Achpopuli Farm, where Landworkers’ Alliance member Katharine Sharp uses agroecological methods to produce meat, eggs, wool crafts and tallow skin care products which are sold locally.

They are in the early stages of implementing a regenerative agroforestry system at Achpopuli Farm, having planted hedges, wood pasture and shelter belts, alongside allowing natural regeneration in the heath. Their sheep and geese are 100% pasture-fed with a holistic grazing plan, working with nature to establish a patchwork of different habitats that suit a diversity of wildlife.

On the way to the farm, we’ll also have a walk through the forest which has been managed by Abriachan Forest Trust since a community buy-out in 1998. You’ll get to see their outdoor classroom, nursery, some areas of continuous cover forestry and natural regeneration.

Tea, coffee & homemade cake included.

Accessibility

Parking is available at Abriachan Forest, and the walk to the farm is just over a mile through the forest. If you have any access issues, there is also limited parking available at Achpopuli Farm. During the farm walk we’ll be walking over uneven ground and there are no fully accessible paths.

Come along for the CSA Network Gathering too!

Make a full weekend of it and join the Scottish CSA and Small Farm Gathering, 16-17th Sep near Inverness. The weekend will include workshops, socialising, tours of Glachbeg Croft, Black Isle Brewery Market Garden and Knockfarrel Produce CSA.

The theme of the weekend is resilience in all its forms, so we will be having talks and discussions around a range of topics such as resilient models, economic resilience, weather and climate resilience, personal resilience and mental health, political resilience and how we can stand together.
