Event Details
As the climate crisis deepens, climate migration is becoming the defining feature of our era. The legacy of colonialism means the worst effects of climate chaos are felt first and most intensely by those living in the poorest countries. Many of the refugees in Scotland will have fled countries facing increasingly extreme and unstable weather.
We face a crisis-ridden government attempting to use racism to divide us.
The hostile environment for migrants is all about scapegoating. Trade union members are striking to resist attacks on our standard of living and we must ensure our movement is not divided by racism. The inquiry into Sheku Bayoh’s death in police custody has uncovered the depths of racism in our institutions. An alarming rise in Islamophobia, antisemitism and racism towards Gipsy, Roma and Traveller
communities have led to a revival of fascist activity in the UK and Scotland.
The climate movement must stand together to say the climate and antiracist movement stand in unity!
