Event Details

Join us for a visit to Seeds of Scotland 11am-3pm, and hear from new seed producers and LWA members, Haley and Finlay, about their journey as new entrants. The visit will include a tour of their new site, a seed saving practical and discussion around land access and converting to organic.

“Seeds of Scotland is a Highland-based seed company located just north of Inverness. Our fields overlook the beautiful Cromarty Firth. We are committed to promoting a sustainable and diverse food system by offering locally grown seeds that are adapted to Scottish growing conditions. We grow our seeds using agroecological farming practices that prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and environmental sustainability.  Every seed is grown, dried, cleaned, and packaged by hand.

We rent two parcels of land which have a total area of around 1 hectare, Both of which were previously parts of larger fields used for conventional arable farming. The fields are situated close to a large farm steading where we have access to several buildings and spaces as well as power and electricity. We gained access to the land at the end of March 2023 and have recently started the process of organic certification.”

There will also be the opportunity to find out more about the work of both The Landworkers’ Alliance and Seed Sovereignty Network.

Please bring your own packed lunch. Hot refreshments provided.

Free for Landworkers’ Alliance members & supporters, £5 for non-members
