Climate Grief Karaoke
Katy Dye invites you to express Ecological Grief through song. Whether it’s Reef Grief, Glacial Depression, Heatwave Angst or North Pole Numbness, join her for a pop fuelled event in which your favourite power ballads or heartbreak anthems can help us release grief enormous enough to shake tectonic plates.
Weaving spoken word and movement, we are taken through Australia’s fiery history including Penny’s own experiences. Embedded in sound is the Australian Black Summer; magpies that have learnt to mimic emergency sirens, shark sirens and helicopters circling overhead with original music by Paul Michael Henry. An autobiographical dance-theatre work from the daughter of an environmental geochemist, bringing together fact and personal account. ’Burnt Out’ is at once an intimate personal story and a universal meditation on our changing climate.
This is an adapted version of the original work for The Landing Hub.
