How can we break our addiction to oil? Join us for a special screening of ‘The Oil Machine’ as we explore our economic, historical and emotional entanglement with fossil fuels by looking at the conflicting imperatives around North Sea oil & gas. This invisible machine at the core of our economy and society now faces an uncertain future as activists, citizens and investors demand change. Is this the end of oil?
The film brings together a wide range of voices – oil company executives and workers, economists, young activists, pension fund managers – and asks how this machine can be tamed, dismantled or repurposed.

The film screening will happen at the Cinema Space, Edinburgh College of Art (ECA). To find the Cinema Space, enter ECA from Lauriston Place, walk to the ECA Cafe and walk straight through it, then follow the signs for the ‘ECA Cinema Space’.
